Where to be & How to get there

Event Hotel

The official wedding hotel is the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar in Nassau, Bahamas.

Located on Cable Beach, Grand Hyatt Baha Mar is a destination within a destination, featuring the Caribbean's largest casino, golf course, kids club, Racquet club, a sumptuous Spa, the Art gallery and a selection of over 20 restaurants and bars. Embrace the island's holistic culture, dive into pristine waters and soak up the sun in a different pool every day.

Each of six exquisite pools brings its own distinct Bahamian design and character. You can laze on a daybed or an in-pool chaise lounge, or cozy up in a cabana - for an extra dose of exclusivity and privacy. Dining options range from exclusive sit-down restaurants to food trucks along the beach and everything in-between.

The resort is kid friendly and they do have a Kids Club if you want the little ones out of your hair for a bit.

Hotel Rates

The two most cost-effective options for rooms at the Grand Hyatt are currently third party sites or points. We have seen discounted rates across various booking sites, such as booking.com, priceline.com, snaptravel.com and others. These rates do come and go frequently, so we encourage everyone to book rooms as soon as possible (they are often fully refundable), just in case a given rate doesn't last. When making comparisons, be careful to read the fine print regarding what fees are included. The best rates we have seen are in the 20% off range:

  • $280/night for 2-3 nights ($400/night after taxes/fees).
  • $260/night for 4 or more nights ($375/night after taxes/fees).

* If you care about World of Hyatt points or status, you may be able to submit a Best-Rate Guarantee Claim by booking a standard rate room at hyatt.com and submitting this form.

World of Hyatt point reservations are available on hyatt.com for 20,000 points per night (Cat 5), or 27,000 points for Grand Club lounge access (includes breakfast). Nearly all the taxes and fees are waived when you book with points, making this a particularly good value.

There is a "Taste of Paradise" rate available on hyatt.com that includes a $150 Food & Beverage (F&B) credit. This rate makes sense if you are unable to find a discounted rate:

  • $350/night for 3 nights with $150 credit ($435/night after taxes/fees/credit).
  • $325/night for 4 nights with $150 credit ($415/night after taxes/fees/credit).
  • $325/night for 5 nights with $150 credit ($425/night after taxes/fees/credit).

Finally, if you are having trouble finding a good room rate, we are collecting names for a discounted group rate with the Grand Hyatt, which we expect to be $260-280 per night ($375-$400 after taxes/fees). If you are interested in this rate, please let us know ASAP when you RSVP and we'll follow-up with more details.

Alternate Lodging

If you're looking at some other hotel options, the Baha Mar complex also includes the hip SLS Baha Mar and the refined Rosewood, each providing a unique vibe while still giving access to all the Baha Mar facilities.

There are also plenty of other resort and private rental options along Cable Beach or even elsewhere on New Providence, if you want to venture further out.

Flights

The Bahamas are easily accessible from the US and Canada on all major carriers. From Europe, direct options are more limited, so you will likely have to connect through the US or Canada. Google Flights is generally an excellent starting point. You may also find some good award options, depending on your preferred carrier.

Ground Transportation

Public taxis have a flat rate of $22 USD (two people including luggage) to Cable Beach. The official taxi stand is just outside arrivals. Taxis are plentiful and accept USD. Major car rental companies all operate from NAS airport. All wedding events will be at the resort, so you won't need a car unless you want to explore downtown Nassau or other areas of the island. More information on taxis and car rental are available on the airport website.

Uber/Lyft are not currently available in the Bahamas. A local rideshare called Bahamas Ride may be operational by the spring. When we visited last fall they did not yet have cars available.

Currency and Travel Documents

US, Canadian, EU and Switzerland citizens require a valid passport and proof of departure. A visa is not required, but your passport generally needs to be valid for 6 months past your arrival date. For more specific information, please visit this website to check on entry requirements.

The official currency in the Bahamas is the Bahamian Dollar (BSD), which is pegged 1-to-1 to the US Dollar. USD are widely accepted, particularly at tourist sites, but you may get BSD change. Credit cards are also widely accepted. On our last visit to the Bahamas we were fine using USD and credit cards.
